MAD: Ch.1I averted my eyes from the kitchen floor and studied with vigour the cheery floral wallpaper oddly plastered across the walls in lieu of paint. It definitely wasn’t new, and whoever put it up had no love for perfection; there were numerous bubbles and tears, and along the seams the paper puckered and curled.

The printed daisies were panic-inducing yellow and the sanguine roses…
Sanguine. The word rolled across the floor of my slanted mind, a loose marble. The roses. They made me feel sick, dirty and winded. I could feel the fetid petals clogging my throat, trailing down my esophagus and twisting in my stomach. & MAD: Ch.1

Bliss and IgnoranceI had to do it.
The Velcro popped as I readjusted the thick black band around the bulky arm of Russell Bane. I knew his name only from reading his sparsely detailed patient file. The reading was hardly necessary; a once-over of the man revealed much more than the papers. He was tall and muscular, and across his skull spread short sour-yellow hair furrier than a yeasty mould. Dark eyes, glistening with anxious excitement were set a bit too far back in a clean shaven face (the lemony aftershave made me want to sneeze).

Beach House“Oh gosh Clair, look at this…” Nancy pushed the newspaper across the blanket to her friend, who looked down absently to read the headline. “Yeah Nance, homeless people are a problem, I know.” “No, not that!” A cool wind fluttered the pages and brushed sand onto the paper. Nancy took it back and read the correct headline that had gotten her a bit worked up. Every time they went to the beach she bought a newspaper from the corner store close by and insisted on telling Clair about every article she read. Usually the latter would listen thoughtfully (without much comment or expression to Beach House

Hey, I'd like to apologise for my long absence. I've taken a hiatus due to exams and such, and I've been trying hard to raise my marks a bit before the semester ends. I think I'm doing an OK job of it to. My exams are next week, and I need to study a whole bunch for chemistry and biology.
I'm not sure when I'll get back to writing again. School has pretty much drained my soul and ruptured my brain. Maybe I'll find some time and motivation once second semester starts again and things get back to normal. I'm actually contemplating taking MAD off of DA, since I might expand on it and send it in to a couple places in hopes of getting it published. Which is a very slim chance, but if I want to try it can't be on here. As well, a lot of the stuff I'm writing may not ever make it to DA, since I am trying to enter as many writing competitions as I can in hopes of scrounging up some university money. So, the stuff that does get on here will most likely be things that I made just for fun, or that I think isn't very good. Sorry for any dissapointment this may cause, but it's not like my popularity on here is very high and I'm sure people won't mind too much.
Also, I'm going to my rotary orientation meeting tomorrow in Calgary. Which means by the end of this month I will know what country I'm going to in August for 12 months. I'm not sure if I mentioned that in previous blogs, but yes, I'm going on a student exchange next year for the whole year. Hopefully I'll be able to cook up some stories while I'm there, and perhaps some poems or something in the language I learn. I'm really excited, and I can't wait to board the plane.
